OPMS is always keen to hear from good singers keen to join its ranks. Being a choir that sings a busy schedule of music to a high standard on relatively few rehearsals, it is a group for the experienced singer and excellent sight-reader: If you feel you are up to the challenge please apply!
Vacancies in all voice parts arise from time to time, and if you pass your audition you might be able to join the choir immediately; if not we will put you on a waiting list and contact you as and when a suitable position becomes available.
We are not a university choir, but we welcome singers from all backgrounds, including students, to join this friendliest of groups.
Auditions consist of singing exercises and some sight-singing. It also helpful if you can bring a short prepared piece with you. Auditions are held throughout the year, often in the coffee break of a rehearsal, to which you will be invited to participate.
We usually rehearse in St Margaret’s church, St Margaret’s Road, North Oxford. Rehearsals are from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and take place on different days each week. There is rarely more than one rehearsal in a week, and we typically schedule between four and six rehearsals for each main concert.
If you would like to find out more, or you would like to request an audition please email the conductor.
